I need some help with this ivy plant. Here is how it looked about a month ago. And here it is now. I tried to use the diagnostic part of the app and it told me a water problem. So I was giving it more water and now it looks like itās dead. Itās dried out and Iām afraid itās done for š¢. Did I kill this plant or is there a way I can save it? Thanks for any advice from a sad plant mama.
I would try taking a look at the roots. If they look good (not squishy), you might be able to cut back the dead leaves and get new growth. If the roots are dead, Iām sorry š«¶š¼
1 LikeDo I just take the whole thing out and then put it back in? Iām so new I have never checked roots before.
0 Likes Yep, I usually just put my hand on top of the soil and flip it over and shake until it comes out. Like trying to get a cake of of a pan lol

If the roots are black and squishy itās a goner so donāt bother! But if the roots look healthy (white & firm) then you can plant the plant back in the pot and trim the back all the dead leaves and see if it will produce new growth!

Maybe itās root rot? If youāre watering too much the roots get squishy and canāt absorb water which could make it dry out. Plants are pick so you can dry it out by watering too much lol š

You can repot but unless youāre attached to it I wouldnāt bother. Thatās far too gone and a lot of effort even if it can be saved. Have a funeral and afterwards cheer yourself up with a trip to the garden centre š
