My wondering dude has fungus gnats. I’m new to plant care and idk what to do!! I searched and it said to mix poroxide and water and spray the plant but it damaged a bunch of leaves. I had to remove them and she is putting out like 8 new leaves but she is infected again.

Hi Hannah - I’m also dealing with fungus gnats right now. If you search in this community, you’ll find lots of posts with advice. I’m using sticky traps to catch the adults and making a “tea” using mosquito bits that I’ll water my plants with to kill the larvae. If just getting started, so I don’t have results to share. My understanding is that it will take time as the adults can lay hundreds of eggs, so you need to keep treating the soil until the cycle is broken. I hope this helps a bit.

Quite a few of my plants were infected with fungus, and I use the mosquito bits with every watering for about five weeks

For the larva and the yellow sticky traps are a must for the adult flying annoying ones. And today I’m gnat free. 🤍🪴

Now the liquid gnat drops would be easier because you have to steep the mosquito bites for 30 minutes and water, but they worked

Two things: water less often and mix BTI into your water on watering day. Use a cheap moisture meter from Amazon to make sure that your plant actually needs the water before you do it. I’ve found that most of the time, Planta’s watering schedule has me watering way too often. You will also want to buy BTI. This is the liquid form of the stuff that covers Mosquito Bits, but it’s much easier just to put it in the water yourself. Follow these tips and you shouldn’t need any sticky traps, which really don’t do much for an infestation.

Peroxide and water has worked great for me, but never sprayed on the leaves! I have only poured it over the soil. Also important to get the concentration right. Hydrogen peroxide comes in a lot of different concentrations, so you have to make sure you’re diluting it with enough water.
