MelodyI had mine on 24 hours a day and I got gnats so please don’t do that. I would recommend maybe 6-8 hours a day when it’s light outside

How close does the mister have to be to the plants??

It’s a pretty small mister so maybe a foot away

PhilI have a large room size humidifier running 24/7 next to my needy plants. During cold months, I add another. Get yourself a hygrometer. Use that to better gage what you need. It also depends where you live and whether or not you use A/C.

A/C dehumidifies as it cools. The more you run it, the less moisture in the air. So you need to mist more frequently and probably need to water a little more often. Most of my needy plants are in the dining room at large windows so I have shut the vent to that room and closed the one door. There is still a large arch opening into the room but it helps. As for misting, it doesn’t really add more humidity except for a few minutes. I mist to keep spider mites away.

I’m also going to be blunt and tell you that little humidifier is too small to help increase the air moisture. Mine can’t even raise much with my A/C blasting away. Maybe increasing about 15 to 20 percent. It needs a complete refill every day. It holds 6 liters.
