Does it stress plants out to take them out of their pot frequently? I ask because I got a mini monstera and a satin pothos and when I first got them I took them out to look at the root systems and change the soil. It’s been about a month and I realize I didn’t do the greatest job planting them. They are loose in the soil and roots are near the top. Would it be ok to just take them out and manipulate the soil a bit ??

I’m still learning monsteras but the pothos would be okay with that yes! Pothos are very resilient

They should be fine :) I’ve had to repot a Monstera twice in one week and it was okay. Yes it can potentially stress the plant if it happens too frequently, but it sounds like it’s necessary for your plant, so it would be better in the long run to do it. Edit: I also wanted to mention that it’s completely fine for both of these plants to have some exposed roots at the top, since they’re epiphytes (grow up trees). A lot of people make the mistake of planting Monsteras too deep which can cause stem rot.

it will stress them out but it’s best to have them snug in their soil with no roots up near the top. those things would be more damaging in the long run. (oh and a satin pothos isn’t a pothos at all. it’s a scindapsus ☺️.) but scindapsus and mini monsteras (rhaphidophora tetrasperma) are both pretty forgiving so that will help.
