I posted a pic of my lemon cypress that is getting crispy, here is a closer look at the roots. Do they look to compact? Do I need to repot to a bigger pot? ๐Ÿค๐Ÿชด

Do you think maybe thatโ€™s why itโ€™s dropping needles and getting dry on the bottom?

it definitely needs a bigger pot, i wouldnโ€™t recommend messing with the roots a bunch since indoor evergreens can be finicky. i would just trim the bottom inch or two of the root mass off with a clean blade, and let it sit and callous for a moment while you prepare a slightly larger pot for it

If the roots look like ramen it's time to repot

If there are more roots than soil, like your picture shows, itโ€™s definitely time to repot it. Just only go one size up in pot. The pot should be only 1-2โ€ bigger than the root ball. And no real need to fuss with those roots. The roots will grow into the new soil all around it. Have fun!
