I posted a pic of my lemon cypress that is getting crispy, here is a closer look at the roots. Do they look to compact? Do I need to repot to a bigger pot? 🤍🪴

Do you think maybe that’s why it’s dropping needles and getting dry on the bottom?

it definitely needs a bigger pot, i wouldn’t recommend messing with the roots a bunch since indoor evergreens can be finicky. i would just trim the bottom inch or two of the root mass off with a clean blade, and let it sit and callous for a moment while you prepare a slightly larger pot for it

If there are more roots than soil, like your picture shows, it’s definitely time to repot it. Just only go one size up in pot. The pot should be only 1-2” bigger than the root ball. And no real need to fuss with those roots. The roots will grow into the new soil all around it. Have fun!
