Pot size question: I have a rubber plant and a philodendron lemon lime that both need a larger pot. They’re currently in 5” pots (measured across the top). My question is should I upgrade them to a 6” pot or an 8” pot each?

I’m not an expert but I think usually the recommendation is 1-2” more in diameter. I would look at the root system! If they’re super root bound, maybe up them straight to 8. If not, then maybe 6 is fine, you may just have to repot again sooner. 😊
1 LikeThe Phil is root bound but havent checked the rubber plant yet. I just don’t want to size up too big especially as that can cause worse issues as I understand it.
0 LikesYeah, I totally get it! Do they make 7” pots? I don’t even know, maybe that would be the sweet spot?
0 LikesThey don’t at Lowe’s! That’s the problem lol. Just 6 and 8’s.
0 LikesDefinitely the 6! The rubber tree will be a bit more forgiving to a too big pot than the philodendron
1 LikeI went with a 6!
0 LikesThe rubber tree will be able to grow into the larger pot. It can get really tall.
