All this plant palaver is overwhelming me and I’m starting to wanna give up. 🤷‍♀️ Talk about biting off more than you can chew.

Having plants is like having a part time job, It requires a lot of care, time and even money. Plants are not for everyone, specially if you don’t have time or have a lot of them and your lifestyle is busy. Maybe just keep a few and it won’t be so overwhelming 😁

I haven’t got many. They all pretty much require the same thing but some of them just ain’t happy. Monstera albo has been repotted and watered once since I got it. Seemed limp and just not happy so checked the roots. looks like root rot already. Like how is that even possible. 🤦🏻‍♀️ 😂

Ahhh ok ok, I see. Most plants will look limp once repot it and that’s because they are adjusting to the new home and soil. You said you only water it once since you repot it? If that’s the case, one of the causes could be a lack of drainage. Check the bottom of the pot and see if it got a good drainage system. If you only see a few holes, I will consider transferring it to a better pot. Is the plant still alive, let it dry out about 2 inches from the top soil before you put more water.

It didn’t need watering when I got it. Soil lacked air flow so I changed it pretty soon after getting it to a chunky mix of bark perlite and abit of soil, gave it literally 80ml of water just to settle it in to the new mix, drained out pretty quick and there was no water sitting right at the bottom 🤷‍♀️. It has grew its air root things abit at the back and there was the small starter leaf that I’ve chopped off today so it’s not wasting energy on that anymore. When I cut off the rot I also put new mix and did a 3% wash on it all and washed the pot out

Only a few things cause root rot, too much water, watering before the mix completely dried out or heavy soil, where it compacts and retain too much water. I will suggest to let it dry out before adding more water, maybe repot it again and put less dirk so it can filter the water quicker. If that don’t work, get a new one 🤣

Honestly I feel the problem was already there from the seller 🤷‍♀️ Should I just do 60 bark 30 perlite 10 soil maybe? I don’t wanna repot too soon either cus I’ve literally done it today and probably annoyed it washing the roots and throwing it around haha I paid enough for this one I won’t be getting another one 😂

Lol. Ok, keep it the way it is hahhaha.. That sounds about right with the mix. but yeah, just let it dry out completely before adding more water to it. They also sell some liquid for root rot, that could be a great way to try to fix it. 😁

Emmyyy you are trying too hard. You are still learning about your plants. This is supposed to be a hobby for fun. I used to try and do everything I was told or read I should be doing. The time will come where you will be able to trust your gut about what is best. Then ask for help when something new props up. I have learned so much over the past couple years. Sit back, take a breather. Try something, give it a chance, analyze what you think would be best. If you lose a plant, it’s ok. You learn from each experience.

Ye I get it’s meant to be fun and a learning thing but also asking for help with something new and something I know nothing about isn’t a bad thing either. Reading about the lights online has been confusing af! So ye asking what people think or use or what they do is what I’m gonna do 😂 -I’ve done what I felt was right and it didn’t stop or fix anything (not just the albo) Trial and error and all that but I don’t wanna keep buying plants for them to literally just die 😂

If you’re a true plant person you are going to kill a lot of plants. It’s all about trial and error. I agree looking online can be hard especially for grow lights (I know from personal experience , it sucks). But I know that even if you are going through a hard time with plants you can always come out of it!
