Pelargoniums! Which one is your favorite? 🌸 In Sweden we have a Geranium that's called Dr. Westerlunds flower (Pelargonium Graveolens) after Dr Ernst Westerlund (1839–1924). He believed that its fresh, citrusy scent could purify the air and speed up recovery for the sick. Pelargonium has been a beloved houseplant in Sweden since the 18th century and has had various folk names over time, including "Farmer’s fart", "Old woman’s fart", "The hasty suitor", "Bedbug tree" and "Smells nice". If you want to taste it here's a recipe for it as well: Ingredients - 200 ml (0.8 cups) granulated sugar - 10 green leaves of Dr. Westerlund’s flower (rose geranium) + 5 finely chopped leaves for the glaze - 150 g (5.3 oz) room-temperature butter - 2 eggs - 200 ml (0.8 cups) all-purpose flour Glaze - 150 ml (0.6 cups) powdered sugar - About 1 tbsp water Instructions 1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (347°F). Grease and flour a springform pan, approximately 18 cm (7 inches) in diameter. 2. Blend the sugar and 10 plant leaves together until you get green-colored sugar. 3. Whisk the scented sugar and butter together until light and fluffy using an electric mixer. Add one egg at a time, beating well after each addition. Finally, mix in the flour. 4. Spread the batter evenly in the pan and bake in the middle of the oven for 25–30 minutes. Check with a toothpick—if it comes out clean, the cake is done. Let it cool completely. 5. Mix the powdered sugar and water into a thick glaze, then stir in the finely chopped leaves. Spread the glaze over the cake. Enjoy! hahaha I know right 😂🙈 The thing is that it smells sooooo good but I think it got it's name from when people touched it to hide bad smells 😂

Well that is interesting. Thank you for sharing the history. Does that one bloom? I do love them. I like the larger leaf.

You’re welcome! It does bloom but only with tiny flowers so it’s mainly grown for the scented leaves (and I agree they’re stunning!) 😍 love the white flowers on yours as well! 🌸🤍

I love scented geraniums. And I personally like the way they smell. Many of them are purchased to repel pests. I grow one in my patio garden every year.

I love the ones with asymmetrical, misshapen leaves. They crisscross sideways and smell so good.
