Absolute eyesore in my living room 🤣😂😂 what indoor shelf system do yall have set up for grow lights - I already had the wooden shelves on the wall and just put my plants there and then realized they needed grow lights - and I just used a coat rack and blanket ladder I had and hair bands to get the lights positioned There’s not enough windows in my place for them to be by and I’m in Washington state so it’ll be dark at 4pm IKEA shelves or something?
I love the shelf. I think you just need some wire management and/ new grow lights
2 Likes Don't mind the mess, please. I'm working on it now, and the giant armed grow light is a clip so I take it down. I have so many kinds of grow lights, rechargeable pucks are on the wall under the shelves. I have that army one for full spectrum light for my healing plants, and the brightest ones are the circular ones that stick into the plant. I also have one in a lamp that's out of view now. My shelves are all of Twmu 🙈🙃🙋🏼♀️ I love them though, just as good as Ikea shelves! Good luck and I hope you find your fix!
I agree with anastasia. I think the shelves are really pretty, but definitely could use some wire management. I see the lights are posted on the ladder… which is cute but it forces the wires in front. Maybe use some command strips on the wall and clip them there? This will allow the wires to go behind your plants Wire organizing sets usually come with wire wraps and wall stickers so the wires won’t be poking every where and can be tampered down so they’re more out of sight. Of course if your heart is set on a shelf totally fair!!

I have two clip ons on top and two zipped tied flat unpthe last two shelvings.. looks a lot neater 😊
There are so many different kinds of grow lights out there. The clips lights are the most mobile but finding an area to clip them is usually the biggest challenge. Sansi has some great puck lights and BamWorld has some great shelves that have grow lights built in. It’s a constant musical chairs of plants as they grow, get repotted, and you purchase more.
Also in Washington with VERY LITTLE natural lights. I decided that aesthetics were important to me so I initially invested in Soltech lights. That said, I’ve recently started to purchase Barrina 2 ft lights that can be mounted on the undersides of the shelf and also one hanging from the ceiling. Barrina also allows you to connect multiple bars, which helps with cord management. I also use a standing Barrina light in my bedroom (the one place there is good afternoon light). For a shelving unit that has my ambient living Anthuriums. You are just gonna have to play around with them. I follow A LOT of planty people on IG to get ideas about set ups! You’ll get it figured out!

I like what you have going. To work with what you have: Keep the rechargeable puck lights where they are stuck to the top shelf. Lose the ladder and coat rack. Run your cords down the back, behind shelves, against the wall and wrangle them with one of those paintable plastic wire covers (usually sold for wrangling entertainment center wires; they’re cheap). They can be cut to size so you could cover the wires between the shelves and underneath. They attach to the wall. Power strip on floor underneath. For the top shelf: Use the pot clips the way they’re intended by using heavy cache pots and clipping the lights to the edge. You can get creative here too. Drainage and perfect size aren’t necessary if you’re only using it as a cache pot rather than repotting. Think like vintage cast iron pot, things you already have, buy inexpensive terra cotta (Home Depot has modern looking edgeless version that I love). Good luck! Have fun!
