My orchid’s leaves have started turning yellow around the edges - any ideas why? It seems fine otherwise, it’s even growing a new leaf and roots! 🤨

A lot of the roots from what I can see look very dry. It also looks a little cramped so it might be time to take it out and soak it in water for 10 minutes and then trim anything that isn’t green and healthy. If it still looks cramped it might also be time to pot a bit bigger.

Thank you! Should I remove it fully from the soil (bark) before I trim any dead roots? And also how do you know when they should be repotted, because I know they like to be a little cramped, but how much is too much? 😅

Yes, take it fully out of the bark and if it looks like the roots are twisting everywhere and most of the inner pot is covered in roots it’s time to move up

The roots show signs of temperature issues. Have you been watering it with ice cubes? If so, switch to room temperature water only. If temperature is fine, try testing your water for any chemicals that may be burning it. I agree on trimming away any dead roots. You can also cut any that look rotten, but leave any that are only burn-scarred like the top ones. To test the roots, press on them. Dead ones are hollow, and if pulled, reveal a stringy inner root. Rotting roots tend to be squishy. Healthy roots are firm. Here's a picture to help

I only use water from the tap - same as always! That’s why I’m so confused, because nothing seems to have changed 🧐
