Ive just recently got a fiddle leaf fig tree. Shes tilting so bad in her pot to the point where i came home from work and she had fallen over. Im going to add some support with a stick. it’s about 5 ft tall and right in-front of a north east facing window. i live in massachusetts btw. any tips on caring for her im new to plants.

Those are hard ones to start out with. I will say be very careful not to over water and make sure she gets enough light. I killed my first one which was from my mom’s funeral so I was super sad but I recently bought a new one in her memory since I’ve gotten better with plants and it is thriving. Well it was until I watered early two days ago and now she isn’t as happy. I so knew better but I was emptying out a water bottle to throw away and didn’t think it would cause any harm cause it wasn’t much left in it. Sadly it did but she’s still alive. Maybe check and see what the roots are doing if they are super soggy or mushy then repot her.

Thanks! I watered her 2 days ago she seems to be doing fine 🤞🏼 other than the EXTREME tilting which i will be fixing with some support. the leaves seem very dusty almost, am i supposed to spritz the leaves or leave them alone? I heard they are pretty challenging to take care of. this is the morning light she gets this photo was taken around 5:30 am so she gets decent light throughout the day. you can see in the photo how tilted she is, she’s leaning on the window.

Also a pic would help us better detect what’s wrong too.

i wouldn’t say anything is ‘wrong’ fingers crossed lol. shes just tilting like crazy im thinking it happened during moving her or just the way she was potted. i havent repotted her yet. i was just going to add some support and see if that works?

Oh well she is gorgeous just looks like maybe the weight so yeah give her some support. Mine gets dusty quick so I just use one of those fuzzy gloves dampen it and wipe her leaves down every couple weeks or so.

I’d leave her just how she is and add some support for her. She’s huge and beautiful.

FLF are a tough “starter plant”. My biggest suggestion is invest in a good hydrometer and go by its readings instead of strictly watering on Planta’s schedule. Mine was being overwatered when I first got the app but the hydrometer keeps watering in check. Personally I recommend it for ALL plants and just use Planta as a suggestion or “reminder to check” the plants. (Which is good as it have a LOT of plants to remember. 😜)

yeah I dont typically stick to the app i usually go by how the soil feels and looks! but i think the water meter would be a good investment

FLF are incredibly rewarding if they are well cared for! I bought mine last July and the large leaves (everything above my finger) are all new growth since I brought it home. She is in an east facing window behind a porch and pergola and in winter I supplement her with a few hours of plant light.

Probably not doing anything wrong. They tend to be single trunk with leaves directly connected to that trunk. I know a business that has one in their lobby that is over 20 feet tall and just the single trunk and leaves. There are actually 2 plants in that pot which is why it is so full. You can top a FLF if you want to force it to branch out.
