I was out of town so gave the plant to a friend for a month. And he almost got it killed. 60% of the leaves turned brown so had to pluck them out. All that is left is what you can see in the image. I’m trying to revive it. Just got rid of all the dead leaves so it looks a lot better than when I got it back from friend last night. Please help me with the best methods how I can possibly revive the plant back!! It seriously needs help to get back to its lush state! The below pictures clearly show how many dead leaves I removed out of the pot and how it looks now.

Man, that sucks they did that. It honestly doesn't look that bad after your clean up. I have seen spider plants come back from just brown nubs. Just give it the care you were giving it before hand. So that you don't over correct in the other direction. The only thing I may add in is a fertilizer diluted to 1/2 or 1/4 strength, just to give it some nutrients for recovery and new growth.

Thanks for the insights! I have liquid fertilizers, let me add it to the soil tomorrow morning. I hope it will help the plant recovers and that it starts to show signs of growth soon!

I'm sure it will now that it's back home. I got a small spider plant via a friend from one of her coworkers. She left it in her kitchen, no light, almost no water for like 2 months before I was A over there and B remembered. It was literally 1 singular yellowish leaf about 3" long, And the rest all brown dead and nubs. I did not have high hopes. But its been about 5 months of good light and regular watering and it's doing great! I know yours will too.

Spider plants are very resilient it will be fine. Your friend probably overwatered it without intentionally trying to do it harm. Just get it back on a good watering schedule.

Your spider plant looks like a blue ribbon prize winner next to some of mine. 😅 I have a spider plant addiction and they live outside, zone 9 on the Texas gulf coast. I have no room to properly care for them inside. So, I bag them when the temperature get below 50°F and put them inside for about 4 to 6 weeks. They live, mostly. I just cut off the dead bits, add rooting hormone powder, add fertilizer and add SuperThrive when I take them outside again. They revive just fine before May.
