Hey everyone! I want to get some plants for my friend. Lately that is all she has been talking about! The only problem is that she has all north facing windows. Does anyone have any suggestions of plants that thrive there? Thank you in advance!!

I have several plants in 4 inch pots that do well on my north facing kitchen windows. The only one that thrives without a grow light is the Ctenanthe prayer plant shown in the photo. You will need a grow light to get most plants to thrive in north facing windows.

Mothers Tongue does will also. It is so nice of you to make your friend happy in this way. My plants keep me company and I’m sure your friend will enjoy the experience or plant pets😊

spider plants, pothos, snake plants, phalaenopsis orchids, african violets, philodendrons, prayer plants, and any other shade-tolerant houseplants will do well in a northern window as long as the view of the sky is unobstructed. if the light through the window is blocked by buildings or trees, hardier plants that can tolerate almost no light, like pothos or zz plants, will be the better choice.
