I have a poinsettia plant that my mother got from Christmas, she was originally going to throw it out now that the leaves are dropping. But I wanted to see if I could keep it year-round and have it bloom again next winter. I read on some sites to just leave it be in water as usual, others have said to trim it down to about 10 cm once March comes. Any advice would be appreciated!!

I’m new at this, but I have a poinsettia that I’ve had in a basket of mixed tropical plants since November, and it’s been doing really well. I have it in a north facing window and supplement it with a grow light. I just make sure to keep it watered as Planta recommends, and keep the light as bright as possible. Hope yours gets better!

I tried last year but I didn’t trim it because I didn’t read up about it until the Fall. Mine didn’t end up reblooming. I also read about a strict regiment starting around November of 10 hours of light a day and then absolute complete darkness for 14 hours. I was putting it in the closet for the dark period, but I wasn’t able to keep up when I got Covid so I gave up on the regiment after that So I guess try trimming and sticking to the regiment and maybe you’ll have better luck than I did
