I’ve gotten a couple of pots as gifts but they don’t have drain holes. Other than drilling a hole, what’s the best way to use them? TIA!

Pot your plant in a nursery pot and drop them in the decorative pot! My plants thrive that way!

1 likeYay! Glad I could help! I for-sure didn’t think of it either until I saw someone else doing it and now all of my plants are potted that way.
1 likeExactly as Terryn said. I’ve been doing this for ever. I think it’s also easier to water your plants and less messy.
2 likesYuuuup I always have nursery pot inside decorative one
1 likeI just bought a bunch of multi sized clear nursery pots and I’ll toss my plants in those and then put those pots in the decorative ones!
1 likeI would put my plant in a nursery pot and then put it in the decorative pot. That’s what I do
1 likeIf you ever want to try planting directly in a no-drainage situation: extremely high drainage mix at the bottom, like gravel, sand, or a plastic mesh (in terrariums, this is called a false bottom. It's the same concept to allow space for some water to sit at the bottom without it touching organic material.) Make that a good thick layer. Regular soil for your plant up top. Ideally, pick plant species with shallower roots or a swamp or semi-aquatic species that's okay with being somewhat waterlogged. Measure out how much water it can take, and just be careful not to overwater. Doing a nursery pot in a deco pot is easier, but direct planting can be done
