if you do mean London, here are the best plant shops in London: Plant warehouse Plant world London Battersea Flower Station Garden Centre and Florist ~ Best places to get fertilizer is Amazon or at a plant store, in my experience. ~ If you’re starting a plant collection, I’ve been told zz Plants and Pothos are best for beginners. Hypoestes are also quite easy to take care of in my experience (polka dot plant), along with Fittonias and Syngoniums. ~ Cheap plants at stores are usually ones that are smaller. My SOP I just bought was 6 (usd), prices might be diff in (if you are talking about london) the UK. Don’t get a fully grown monstera if you’re looking for cheap (unless they are priced diff where you live).

I'm in the US but great ways to get cheaper plants is to buy wholesale from a nursery. There's several here, that you don't have to have a business license. You just have to spend like $200 and you get something like 30-50% off each plants retail.

For media, obviously going to depend on the plant. But i have a base mix i use for most, and that's 1 part each of (soil, perlite, charcoal, orchid bark, gypsum) and then from there i ammendment it to meet the plants needs. Like if it's a cactus/succulent, I add akadama and sand. For a pon mix, you can do perlite, pumice, fluval, charcoal. Or you can buy lechuza-pon pre-made. I use several fertilizers, depending on plant and time of year. Schultz cactus, instant plant food, fox farms, maxsea, osmocote... and a few others I cannt remember off top.

Other additives would be Silica and Epsom salts

Another thing to look into is lighting. You don't want to weak lights, but you don't want too bright either. As they can burn any delicate plants. And you also want to harden them off to brighter lighting. Even of they can take bright light, if they aren't used to it. Youll want to do short times on, until you work up to a full 14-16hrs

Ask friends, family and coworkers for free or low cost plants to start your collection. Lots of plants are brought inside for winter that would do better in a new home if I had friends/family that would take them. My propagations thrived and are overcrowded inside.

hi, welcome to the community!! youtube also has some great resouces. my fav channel is Plants With Krystal. shes super funny and informational, and also transparent with her failures/mistakes, which is awesome. Oh the Places Youll Grow is another plant channel i love, she has a more entertainment focus, but recommends some great products. finally, Sarracenia Northwest (both youtube & website) is packed full of info on carnivorous plants. and of course, this app also has some awesome people with great info and tips! good luck with your journey!!
