I’m going on vacation this summer. I’m wondering what everyone does to care for your plants when you’re away? I don’t have anyone to look after them. I’m concerned about watering. I’ll be gone for 3 weeks

I would ask around if there was someone you could pay to do it. We have a couple of teenagers that do it for us. They don’t let me pay them but they ask me to sign a form showing they did Volunteer Hours. Our High Schools here in New Hampshire require students to do a certain amount of Volunteer Hours over the course of their time there in order to graduate. Doesn’t hurt to look into that.
3 Mi piaceMy outside plants are all on drip. I should have clarified I’m talking about my indoor plants. I wouldn’t be comfortable having strangers in our home while we’re away.

Can you move your house plants outside while you’re gone? I move 90% of mine outside for the summer. Then you could have someone come water those. Sounds like that may he your only option. Just suggesting.
2 Mi piaceI have run about 2” of water in my kitchen sink and set my pots in it. That worked for me.
0 Mi piaceIf you have some more sensitive plants, some nurseries offer services to plant sit. You just take them to the nursery and then they are looked after by other plant nerds😊 could call around and see

I do have a lot of plants in selfwatering pots,, but for the ones that are not in selfwatering pots, I use this,, and it has worked really well for me when I'm out of town. . .
2 Mi piaceThat looks interesting, did you get it on Amazon?
1 mi piaceI’ll be the first to say i struggle with any drip system, but i think that’s just me and my lack of patience with it. i have seen people keep plants in the bathtub with very little water at the bottom. it keeps up ambient humidity and gives some water for the soil to suck up to the roots as needed

Well that looks interesting.
2 Mi piaceI had a lot of luck with bagging several of my plants during a recent 10 day trip, specifically my spider plant, African violets, and Thanksgiving cacti did great with the closed system for humidity.

I did the same thing during a recent 2 week trip. I put my small and medium sized plants in clear garbage bags. Worked great for me. Had some other plants on timed drip irrigation. That worked too, but it did require some testing to dial in the right water amounts so the pots didn’t get over watered
