Hi plant friends! I have a question about my spider plant. I repotted her June 28, and she’s already growing massive roots from the bottom of her pot. Should I repot her again? Her leaves have been turning brown. I may be under watering her, because every time I do water her (bottom water with filtered water) she soaks up the water like crazy. I’ve been trying to follow the Planta schedule. But she’s also grown some new shoots, that aren’t leaves, but I’m not sure if it’s potential babies? Any advice on how to continue caring for her would be appreciated! I’d love to have some babies, so I don’t want to do anything that’ll make Charlotte unhappy. TIA! *the blinds are closed just so I can take a picture and you can see the plant as a whole. The blinds are otherwise always open, window faces east. She seems to be happy in that spot from her history of being there compared to other spots in my house

You can trim those roots with no harm to the plant. I would personally repot, but I’m sure that’s not the general consensus from others. I would go up 2 inches in your pot. Your pot should be 2 inches bigger than your root ball.☺️ hope this helps

If you’re only bottom watering, the roots could be just naturally growing towards where the water is. They love being root bound so usually it’s fine/better to leave them in a smaller pot than upgrade and risk overwatering. Those shoots are going to produce new little babies that you can propagate :) she’s very healthy! I might get a look at her roots more generally and if she’s very very root bound size up. But don’t let the bottom roots fool you :)

I would definitely repot while its growing season especially if its thriving like that, just go up one size bigger
