Just asking a question đ€ does misting your houseplants do anything or should I refrain from it
I stopped misting most of mine because I felt it was turning the edges brown because the water tends to pool on the tips unless I go back and dry them. Seemed a little crazy to mist them to dry them. Not misting hasnât seem to have hurt at all. My prayer plant benefited the most when I stopped.
2 Me gustaIâm by no means an expert I canât keep a succulent alive to save my life but I feel like mist just doesnât work. For a plant to live they need to have water on their roots and mist only gets on the leaves. Iâd say if you have access to one use a dropper
0 Me gustaMisting really doesnât increase the humidity remotely enough for plants that need it, and sometimes the app recommends it, but honestly, a humidifier is much for effective and efficient than constantly misting your plants. I consider the misting option as more of an indicator that the plant might need more humidity than other plants rather than that it enjoys being misted. Most plants listed with a ânormal humidityâ need donât need a humidifier, and cactus and succulents do not enjoy extra humidity, and will not be happy if you mist them. And like Dot mentioned, misting some plants then retuning them to a spot with bright light can quickly burn the leaves or their edges. Hope this helps.
6 Me gustaI agree with everyone! Before reading the comments I decided to stop misting my plants because I didnât see the benefit of doing it. Researching outside this app I found out misting was hurting most of my plants. I disregard this app when it says to mist.
2 Me gustaMisting, humidifiers, etc. all just made my plants sick when the app suggested it. I do neither and they're beginning to thrive again.
1 me gustaI stopped misting a while ago after I conducted an experiment for myself. I checked the humidity level, then misted. I saw the humidity go up a couple of points then after about 15 minutes, the level dropped to the original level. It proved to be a waste of time.
2 Me gustaIâm in zone 10 (very hot very humid) with tropical plants and I still mist my plants. It all depends on your setting and type of plant. Succulents donât need to be misted BUT if you have a monstera whoâs struggling to uncurl a new leaf then I recommend misting! There are some plants who hate having water on their leaves, be mindful of that if misting indoors. If outdoors in a hot zone dw abt it too much. If your plants get brown from misting you probably have your plants in a spot with high humidity and little ventilation. Misting with a spray can and not a humidifier can also help prevent spider mites and other insects on your leaves! They canât make nests/webs on water droplets. I would debate that misting is probably the cheapest and safest pest control if your setting allows it I havenât had a spider mite problem in months ever since I started misting.
