Well, this Jack has survived last winter indoors in my basement with grow lights, and had its first summer outdoors in NJ. Seems fairly happy and there’s growth at the base… What should or shouldn’t I do to keep him growing? I’d did drop the lower leaves as you can tell. That happened over the season. Our nights are dropping into the 50s and I’d feel better about bringing it back inside.. Any suggestions welcomed and appreciated! Just for info- I did not transplant- this is exactly how I bought on clearance last fall. 😊😊

Definitely keep him inside until nightime temps go up!!! or at least bring him in at night. succulents hate being cold, that's probably why he dropped those leaves. i'd check out those roots and see if he needs a repot, too

Thanks😁 I did bring them all indoors now, set up in my basement with grow lights, mild temp thru the winter down there- (it’s not a dark, dingy kind- 😆) the leaves dropped while outside over the summer- How do I handle the upwards growth without it becoming stalk like? I will check the roots, also. 😊

you could plant it in a larger pot and cover the exposed stem with soil. the nodes will grow roots. i've also seen some people use growth hormones on the stems of their plants to produce more leaf and stem growth, but i've personally never done that so i can't speak to the results

I have the same plant or similar and it looks like yours, but it just keeps getting taller and dropping leaves too. But mine is in a bathroom that’s humid with a grow light. 🤔

I am not a pro of any kind, but I’m thinking maybe your plant is getting a bit too much watering.? I had that issue with a few smaller potted succulents right from the store.. and I’ve repotted others with a better soil mix that is made for them- dries out easier. I’ve read it’s better to underwater than overwater- Maybe a repot with new soil would help.?

Hmm I hadn’t considered the overwatering option as I follow planta’s schedule but that’s not fool proof I’m sure. I’ll look into that
