I was told this was a Madagascar Dragon Tree but not sure what it is. Also having trouble trying to figure out why it’s dropping so many leaves. Help please! First photo from October Second photo from today

Yup it is! Dracaena marginata. I’ve had mine forever. Dropping leaves could be a sign of overwatering. This plant likes to dry out completely between waterings. When I had mine in soil I think I was watering it like every 3-4 weeks.

That might just be a sign that it’s growing nicely then, but I’m not sure. Shedding leaves is actually normal for this plant as it grows, so if you know that your watering is fine and it’s getting enough light (I’ve personally found it can tolerate a wide range of lighting although grows best in bright indirect light), then it may just be shedding leaves because it’s growing new ones and doesn’t need the lower ones anymore. BUT, from your pictures I’d be kinda surprised if that was the case because it looks quite “naked” now. I don’t think it would shed leaves so quickly if that was the case. Best bet is to just go to back to basics - water and light. If you’re watering before it’s drying out completely - water less often and see how it does. If it’s not getting the best light right now - move it a couple feet from a (preferably east or west-facing) window for a while and see how it does.

These plants are sensitive to fluoride/chlorine in water. Some people use distilled but you can also treat your water. You also need to have some form of humidity. I have one at work and so far misting has worked for him.
