Just got my first plant! It’s a ZZ plant and I drenched it in neem oil spray last night before bringing it inside. Would it be good to transfer it to a smaller nursery pot after it rests?

It might not need smaller but yes definitely put in a pot with lots of drainage. ZZ are prone to rot.

0 LikesI like to add a bit of soil it came in to my new mix… helps with transplant shock! I’d still add in some new soil tho they’re usually planted in peat moss which has little to no nutrients! Until you unpot you won’t know if it needs a smaller pot… the rhizomes are quite large on these guys (look like potatoes almost) sometimes they are so big under the soil they won’t fit in a smaller pot! In case no one told you let these guys dry out completely before watering again… they are very easily overwatered so a pot with better drainage will set your guy up for success!
0 LikesI have killed two beautiful ZZ like yours due to over watering. The first one I left in its pot. Big mistake. The next one I put in a naked root pot and filled the water reservoir. Big mistake. They don’t want to be over moist with constant water available. It died. Now I have a new one in Miracle grow cactus palm and citrus soil. Very dry mix and my plants love it!
0 LikesJust leave the ZZ in a nice window and let it grow. It doesn't need to be repotted.
