Can someone explain the fertilization step to me? I think I am throwing my watering schedule off. When I fertilize my plants I use a liquid food. I add water to the pot before adding the food. As a result, when the app tells me it’s time to water them, they don’t need to be watered. Am I doing something wrong? Last year I didn’t water when I fed and some of my plants really suffered as a result.

I have two watering cans. One has the fertilizer mixture in it and the other plain water. When scheduled to fertilize, use the water with the fertilizer mixed in. In Planta, a fertilize task counts as a watering task. An FYI, a repot also counts as a watering task.

That’s what I understood, so I will just continue to note that I didn’t water because the soil is still wet.

Sometimes my schedule gets off too. I think bc I snooze a lot of tasks. And watering and fertilizing seem to need to be snoozed seperatly?? Not 100% sure about that. But I haven’t had the app long enough yet to have it all worked out But for sure check if your plants need watering before going ahead and watering

If fertilizer is scheduled and soil is wet, then you should “snooze” the fertilizer task. Snooze however many times you need until the plant needs moisture. When needed, use the fertilizer/water mixture. The app will adapt the tasks based on the “snoozes”. If by chance the you have delayed the tasks so many times that it has caught up with the next water task (fertilize and water tasks same day), then fertilize your plant, check off the fertilize task, then the water task will also disappear. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you! I am new to “not killing plants” now that I am retired. I am really pleased with how it turned out.

I fertilize every time I water so I complete the fertilizer tasks. If that makes sense.
