hi plant people! this is my first ever plant child and I'm a little concerned because while I think there are new leaves growing at the ends/top, there are a lot of dried up brown leaves towards the bottom. you can kind of see in this picture that I took of it about a week ago. it looks a little bit worse now but the ends of it are more purple and still growing. planta told me this was a turtle vine but I bought it at trader joe's and it was unmarked so please let me know if you have any advice! i don't want my first plant to die and want it to be happy

I also just watered it and tried to pick off as many of the dried brown leaves as I could but not sure how to make sure they don't come back

Could be overwatering and some root rot, I'm no expert though. Does that pot have drainage holes?

The little pot inside the ceramic pot has drainage holes but the ceramic one doesn't if that makes sense

Ok yeah, so when you water it, just make sure you empty the ceramic pot afterwards so the plant isn't left sitting in water. Alternatively, when you water the plant take it out of the ceramic pot, water it until it drains from the bottom and wait until it stops draining before you put it back in the ceramic one. It could be the start of root rot that's making the under leaves go brown.

Okay good to know! I just watered it tonight and when I did, I took the plastic pot out of the ceramic one but then put it back inside. Maybe I'll keep it out a little longer. Thanks!
