Mine does this too! I just turn it a little every time I water it so it will even out 🤣

They’re following the directions of the sun. I would just turn it around throughout the week. I have mine outside so it stays “bushy” at all times. 🤷🏽

It'll do that if it's only getting sun from 1 direction. If you do decide to turn it, try just doing like a quarter turn once a week or so. This way the sun won't hit the back of the leaves and it doesn't have to use energy adjusting itself too often.

don’t turn it throughout the day or you’ll get really wavy stems — but a quarter turn every week should even things out

Agreed. I started turning a leaning jade that arrived that way in the mail and within a week it straightened it out. To help it straighten out and grow evenly, just try turning it when you water or once a week, pointing it towards the opposite direction it previously was each time until it evens itself out. Here’s my jade before and after, for reference

Sometimes a grow light is better if the plant is reaching hard to get light. No need to remember to turn it.

I ask AI about my plants and I uploaded your images. Here's what it says: The plant in the images appears to be a **Syngonium**, commonly known as an **Arrowhead Plant**. Syngoniums are fairly easy to care for but may develop leggy growth and leaning due to inadequate lighting or inconsistent care. Here are some care tips to help prevent leaning and promote healthy growth: ### 1. **Light** - **Light Source**: Syngoniums prefer bright, indirect light. If your friend notices the plant leaning towards one side, it could be due to insufficient light, causing it to stretch toward the nearest light source. - **Solution**: Move the plant closer to a brighter window where it can receive more indirect light or use a grow light if natural light is limited. - **Rotation**: To avoid leaning, rotate the plant every week to ensure all sides receive equal light. ### 2. **Watering** - **Consistency**: Water the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Syngoniums like evenly moist soil but dislike waterlogged conditions. - **Solution**: Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot. Reduce watering frequency during the winter months. ### 3. **Support**: - **Stakes or Moss Poles**: Syngoniums can grow upright with the help of support. Your friend can insert a small stake or moss pole into the pot and gently tie the stems to encourage upward growth. - **Pruning**: If the plant is getting leggy (long stems with fewer leaves), trimming back the longer stems will encourage bushier growth. ### 4. **Soil and Potting**: - **Well-Draining Soil**: Make sure the plant is potted in well-draining soil. If the soil seems too compacted or water is not draining well, repotting into fresh soil might help. - **Pot Size**: If the plant is outgrowing its current pot, it may need to be repotted into a slightly larger container to allow for better root expansion. ### 5. **Humidity**: - **Increase Humidity**: Syngoniums enjoy moderate to high humidity. If the air is too dry, the leaves can turn brown at the edges, as seen in the images. - **Solution**: Mist the plant occasionally or place it near a humidifier to keep the leaves healthy. ### 6. **Fertilization**: - **Feed Lightly**: Use a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can damage the roots. By following these tips, the plant should become healthier and more upright over time. Using support like a stake or pole and ensuring it gets sufficient indirect light are key to preventing the plant from leaning excessively.
