Hello. Desperately need help with my ‘Sterlitzia Nicolai’ plant. The leaves are curling up and turning yellow. I live in an apartment with floor to ceiling windows (plenty of light) although mostly cloudy weather conditions (UK). I am attaching photos. Is there anything I could do to revive this “bird of paradise”? Thank you.

My Bird of Paradise does this. She sits in a SW window (UK) so gets a lot of light. I’ll mist her with distilled water for a couple of days in a row and she flattens her leaves out.

It kind of looks like a moisture issue, meaning some combination of humidity and watering. You might need to water more often and/or get a humidifier. Misting is fine, but you would have to do it a few times a day. Much easier to just get a humidifier in most cases.

I believe you have pests. The white fluffy looks like mealy bugs and the leaves are either dirty or you have spider mites. The yellowing may be from a few things. I think it has been over watered. If there are pests, take if out of the pot and clean off the soil. Check the roots, trim the rotted. Then repot it an airy mix. Good luck!

Oh and rubbing alcohol is great to get rid of mealy bugs. For spider mites, I use dawn dish soap, alcohol and water. Mix together, then spray down the plant.

What kind of soil do you have it in? Mine came with coco coir but once I switched it out to a chunky mix it did a lot better

You might want to mist her and get a humidifier. I do this for my plants and it works well
