   I would wait till they are at least an inch long.

     Stick it in soil! I propagate snakes with rooting hormone and soil. No water propagation since they are arid loving plants. You could put it in soil with no roots at all and it will send roots looking for moisture. You may get even be slowing down root production if you are water propping it.

   I’m not sure those are roots, it looks like the fibers from the leaf itself (like how celery has stringy fibers)
