What is this on my olive tree?? Is it scale?? I tried using rubbing alcohol and removing it with my finger nail but it won’t come off. I’m wondering if it’s just part of the bark??

    Looks like Scale to me? If so, give it a google to remedies.

    Those are dormant buds! If you prune on top of them, they will grow into branches with new sets of leaves. If you want to make it a bonsai or something this is valuable because branches grown from these dormant buds usually have smaller leaves (if given enough sun). You can’t rub them off, they just sit there. As the trunk matures though, they will slowly fade over time without human intervention. Happy gardening!
