Naked root planter - pros, cons, and best plants for that type of system? I have a handful of plants in pon/leca, some in just water, succulents in all sorts of mediums and substrates, and a jade I rescue from a dumpster that I have no idea how it’s thriving. I’ve seen monstera and other house plants doing well enough in these planters but can’t seem to find much info on much past the pothos, calathea, monstera fan base.

I have several naked root planters and absolutely love them, for both semi hydro and soil. The plants I currently have in these planters are, alocasia's, hoya, syngonium, tradescantia, calethea, begonia, peperomia, mican,.I'm probably forgetting some, but that's the majority. My plants thrive in these planters and roots go absolutely bunkers. The only con I can think of, is it can be a bit difficult to remove the plant at repot time. This is my never never plant, took me about 15min to remove with very minor root damage. It did have any negative effect on the plant. Other than that, I can't think of any cons.

I am sick so forgive me if this comes out muddled. I think Paige Tailyn on youtube/insta/etc uses these or at least something like them, and might have videos about them. I have some similar semihydro pots with syngonium and peace lily and they're absolutely loving it. They're sizing up incredibly fast and there's always a new leaf unfurling. In particular my lance leaf syngonium seems to do better in those pots than any other setup I have it in. The peace lilies look amazing too, dark glossy leaves and several new plantlets. The others from the same division, which are in regular pots in aroid mix, are... Not thrilled with life.
