Two things: 1. What are these bulb-like things on my string of hearts? Sort of like a root? 2. Do you have any advice on how to make my string fuller? I asked my local nursery and she suggested more direct light and sort of bunching them up on top of the dirt so the nodes can grab onto the dirt and start growing. Thank you!

    1. The bulbs are aerial tubers (called bulbils). 2. To make it fuller, you can lay the strings on the soil (making sure the node is touching the soil) and once they root, they will put out new strings. If they’ve rooted but don’t branch out after some time, you can cut the stem between the leaves and that should signal the plant to push new growth out from the nodes.

I’ve seen success with a clear cup taped on top to Encourage humidity while propagating more growth & if you take 1 long strand, Circle it around the dirt, you can use small pins (like Bobby pins) to hold the strings around the nodes to prompt rooting. Happy growing!
