I would love some guidance on propagating my Monstera! I have noticed there are quite big nodes started. Should I cut where I marked in red and propagate so that I can add more to my current plant? Im a little nervous as it is a large stem. I am open and appreciate all suggestions and guidance.

That would be a great spot to trim it, especially since it already has an aerial root! You can remove the most bottom leaf of the cutting and place it in a few inches of water. Keep it in a warm spot with bright indirect light and that root will eventually start to grow and turn white. Once it is 3 or so inches long with some secondary roots it will be ready to be potted!

Thank you so much!!! How long does it typically take to start getting roots?

I have my monstera cuttings in water. They’ve been happily thriving in there since March 19th. I’ve changed the water every week-every 2 weeks. My roots are probably 6 inches long. They can stay in there for quite a while. But if you’re itching to pot, wait until they’re 3-4 inches. Make sure you have a support pole.

You should see some root action between 1-3 weeks! It depends on environmental factors. Hopefully it will root put for you quickly!

Let that go for now. In a week, check for rot. It’ll be soft and maybe a little stinky I wanted to share some of mine that are currently propagating and thriving in water.

It also looks like you may have a new leaf unfurling? You should be fine 💗 But for future…. Don’t do too much (trim, repot, propagate) when a leaf is coming out. I just read about that. Could be too shocking. It’s ok… I did it. And it just threw me off and caused a bit of anxiety 🙃 bc some of the leaves started drooping
