Please help! I’m a new plant mom and having a gnat problem. I tried cutting back on water, adding moss on the top, sticky traps, and even repotted to try and get rid of any larva/eggs. Nothing is helping. It’s mainly on my pick princess but all of them are affected.
Spraying all your plants with neem oil for every day for about a week is what helped me the most. I have also heard spraying your plants with 70% isopropyl alcohol and leaving them in the dark until they dry works too. It’s a constant struggle with gnats for me too one day they just started to go away. Also, people water with mosquito bits. I mixed in systemic granules to my soil so that might’ve helped too.
4 likesI have been putting black sand as a top layer to my soil, which traps the larvae underneath. No more fungus gnats for me!

I am using the misquote bits and it is working. I had a bag of potting soil infested with them, didn’t realize until too late. It’s been about 5-6 weeks now every watering. I have more than 80 plants. I am seeing less and less. Sticky traps were changed and they are showing the same. Good luck.

I just started watering with mosquito bits as well. I treated with nematodes which worked wonders. Now I’m doubling down.
2 likesI add a squirt or peroxide in the water every time I water with my fertilizer and I got rid of my gnats.

I keep a tub in which I keep my bags of soil and I find if I repot multiple things and mix up the soil in the tub and maybe add some fresh soil as well, it helps disturb any pests but it only helps reduce, if you’re getting desperate it might be worth a shot 🤷♀️

The moss on top keeps it too wet, that's why gnats are sticking around. Take the moss off, let the soil dry out, and water it once with Mosquito Bits or the dunks. That should fix it. Also spray it with neem oil I use the captain jacks. Also if you do repot again, a chunky mix like Molly's aroid mix is great it dries fast so gnats don't like it.

I just did round 2 of the mosquito bits tea treatment this morning and round one seemed to help a lot (I was tempted not to treat some of them again, but decided to go ahead and do it). My pink princess isn’t among the plants that are infested, so can’t speak to her specifically.
