So, in a last ditch effort to save my very sad Bird of Paradise, I completely chopped the plant and trimmed the roots. I put the roots in a jar of water and have gotten this growth (about 3cm) in only 3 days! I don’t know if this is the start of a new stem (it’s unfurling a bit like a leaf) does anyone know what’s going on here? I don’t want to get my hopes up and have it be nothing! 😭

Hey! It looks like you’re getting some exciting growth there! That new bit of green you’re seeing is a great sign—it could be a new leaf starting to form. If it’s unfurling a bit, like you described, it’s very likely the plant is trying to push out new growth, which is awesome! Here’s what to keep doing: • Keep the roots in water for now and make sure the water is clean. You can change the water every few days to prevent any bacteria from forming. • Bright, indirect light is key, so if it’s near a window (but not getting direct sunlight), that’s perfect. • Patience: You’re doing great so far! Bird of Paradise can be a bit slow, but new growth like this is promising. I know it’s hard not to get too hopeful, but this is looking really good—keep up the care, and let’s see where this new growth goes!

I know nothing about BOP but growth is growth so I’d have some hope regardless. 😂
