Just been & checked on my dad’s Brussels 😬 does anyone know what’s happened here? I know 100% it’s not slugs which when something like this happens it usually is. No sign of caterpillars so I’m stumped, it’s the only plants this has happened to. Everything else is fine 🤷‍♀️

We’ve had tons of earwigs this year and I’m pretty sure they have been chewing up my plants

I thought they liked the damp dark? I’ve often lifted wood & found them in the dirt underneath ( I have some outside my back door). That’s confused me as there’s nothing there, there are slug pellets around the bottom & no other plants nearby. My dad’s really not happy. His beetroot’s tiny this year too as well as woody, I’m going to sort out the soil, making sure the ph is right, as that’s something I’ve not done.

That looks more like the damage a cabbage worm can cause. They will eat Brussels. So sorry!

I know something like this happened to my cabbages last year but I found caterpillars then picked them off & sprayed neem oil, that sorted it. Not seen anything so I’ll look up what a cabbage worm is ( looks like ) I’ve honestly never seen this before. My first thought was the book the hungry caterpillar my children used to read when they were young, but no caterpillars so I’ll check out these worms
