Azalea question. I have read online from various sources that state it’s “normal” for the flower blooms of azaleas to turn brown and then hold a green leave for a bit before recycling back to beautiful blooms. Other sources are saying I’m not watering enough, or my soil isn’t acidic enough, etc. What’s the truth on these? I have done everything recommended for this plant and if it’s me, I don’t know what I’m doing or not doing to help this poor thing out. Or, is it just normal?

Photos? Are you fertilizing with a fertilizer labeled for azaleas? They are designed to provide more acid like rose fertilizer.

Yes, I am. Started browning about a week ago and now looks like this 🤦🏼‍♀️

Try using azalea (acidic) fertilizer like the ones in the picture. It may not help this blooming season. But, it should help next year. Also, add 6” tall pine bark mulch around the roots. Pine mulch is acidic, helps block weeds, and keeps the root system from excessive heat/cold temperatures. 🪴🍀
