I need to repot my alocasia black velvet plant, what soil do you recommend? Seems like it needs some moss in the soil.

an aroid mix with some extra peat thrown in there has done my alocasias well. aroids mixes are juuust barely too dry, but almost perfect. for a rough ratio i think per 100g or aroid mix i'd add in an extra 15g of peat, not super accurate cause i don't measure i just eyeball, but it's in that ballpark

0 J'aimeIt needs airy soil that will hold moisture pretty consistently without soaking and suffocating the roots. Airy and a bit moisture retentive is key. You can ask ChatGPT for the perfect recipe for your plant depending of what soil ingredients you have at home. You can also ask if to take pH and CEC value into consideration and create the perfect blend with the perfect pH and CEC value (cation exchange rate) - maybe one recipe with ingredients you have at home and one with ingredients you don’t have and see if it’s worth buying some more ingredients to make an even better blend. Good luck! ☺️
