Here’s a poll question for you all - do you research your plants before buying, or do you find a pretty plant and say “yep, that one’s mine!” And hope for the best with plant care?

I research mature size as space is an issue and if it needs a moss pole—I’m OUT

Ugh researching the Philodendron lupinum talked me right out of buying it. Totally changes leaf shape & texture when it sizes up (aka needs to climb), but is also a spider mite magnet and high humidity needer. Yeah, no thanks. 😞

At minimum i look up expected mature size and light category before buying. I do tend to plan my plant choices in advance, but for impulse buys it's just "do i have a spot for you?"

After some trial and error over the years, I know which plants I like and are comfortable with their care. I can tell you I would never buy another fiddle leaf fig again, even if someone gave it to me for free 🫣
