can anyone help me? This is a silver dragon and I’m trying so hard to keep it alive. I made some mistakes at first so I got rid of all the dead leaves and saved this good one. I’ve been making it less cold in my room, and spritzing it for humidity but I don’t know. Should I repot it?

Expect drama from an alocasia. I had 2 corms of my Azlanii (2 alocasia’s) in one pot and one has dropped all its leaves, but I’m still waiting to see if they make an appearance again. I repotted into Molly’s Aroid Mix because I wanted to try something new and pre-mixed. So far there is a 4th leaf coming in on the corm that likes me and it has been 2-3 weeks since repotting. Personally, the only plant I give humidity to is my calathea because I want it to open and close its leaves every day. For my alocasia, it deals with my 70 degree regular house humidity, which is already naturally 50-60% because of my location.

Okay, thank you so so much!! It’s very appreciated. I’m gonna repot it and hope that helps. We don’t have the highest humidity where I live so I’m unsure how much I should mist it. But I might try to take a break from misting it to see if that makes a difference.

I’ve had my mother plant for about three years, and never worried about misting. I live in Michigan and it survives well with no extra humidification.

Misting doesn’t really help indoor plants from my experience. If you are worried about humidity and want to invest in it, keeping your alocasia in a regularly used bathroom or next to a constantly-ran humidifier will help. There’s also the cabinet greenhouses and such but then you have to think of airflow. I suppose I have mine in a nursery pot within a “catch pot” (a decorative pot with no drainage). That allows it to retain humidity after watering as it slowly drains from the soil, just don’t keep much water in there long-term.. It’s just drops that create a humid environment in there.

This is my Adansonii but the same idea.

A chunky mix specifically for aroids is a good start. My Silver Dragon is pretty resilient but does “fall asleep” so you may have to be patient and not stress if you’re not seeing new leaves. Be careful not to overwater…

Okay good to know, thank you so much!! Okay, I for sure overwatered it at first but I did some research and I think I got it somewhat
