Just bought some plants, wanted to have some life in my room. I have never taken care of plants before, any tips?

For the kalanchoe (pink flower), my only tip is avoid root rot; every single one I've had has died that way. For the orchid, avoid getting water in the crown (where all the leaves meet). Use room-temperature water and get it directly on the roots, and water it about once a week. Make sure the water drains; most plants rot if they sit in stagnant water. Orchids like bright indirect light. Be aware that it is dyed, so it'll bloom white the next time it blooms. It's normal for the flowers to dry and drop after a while; when it does that is the best time to repot.

Snake plants are wonderfully easy - they don’t need too much water and aren’t very fussy! I kept mine in quite a dark room, and accidentally forgot about it for ages. The leaves turned pale, but now it’s back in a bright window, they’re completely fine again! They grow quite slowly though :)

New to plants? Ok, my number one rule is that every time you get a plant, always quarantine them for a few days, never bring new plants home without treating them. You should buy some pesticide and fungicide as new plants can carry bugs and transfer to other ones. When it comes to taking care of them, for most people, water is the issue, so make sure you google your plants and learn how to take care of them. The pot size and where you place them is a big factor for your plants to thrive. Good luck 😁

Biggest plant killer is over watering. What that means is leaving them to sit in a pool of water for days on end. Most just need a heavy drink after the soil starts to dry up. How dry it can get between watering is dependent on the plant. For instance, the snake plants can go completely dry, they are drought tolerant, storing water in their ryzomes. The previous comment about orchids is spot on. I would just add, don't use soil for it, use a orchid bark mix. And when the flowers do drop off, cut the spike off at the base. Place it in a well lit spot so it can recharge it's reserves for next year's bloom.

Any pre-mixed bag for orchids should do. I wouldn't try to make your own mix, unless you are planning to purchase a bunch of orchids in the near future.
