Is it normal for Tradescantia zebrina/wandering Jew leaves closer to the root to turn brown? Are they just old? Should I pick them off? Left plant is in a planter and the one on the right is propagating in water.

i think it’s totally normal as it ages. i’ve also seen it happen to leaves sitting on the soil, so watch for that on the potted one! definitely pick em off! if you’d like a plant with a fuller top, just continue to prune and propagate and you’ll get there!

As it hangs in the soil, the roots start to get pulled out. Any tips?

Like previously said, keep pruning and propagating!
