Silly question Friday, when you have your grow lights on high right above the plants is that considered full/direct sun?🫤🤍🪴

Short answer is “No”, unless you have some industrial strength grow lights. Long answer. That depends on the strength of the grow light. You would need to measure amount of useable light a plant is receiving at leaf level using a Footcandle or PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) meter. PAR is the range of light wavelengths between 400-700nano meters. PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density) measures all photons (light particles) within the PAR spectrum in micromoles per square meter per second (μmol/m²/s). Full midday sun is considered 10K footcandles or 2000 PPFD. There is an app called Photone that can measure light sources in Foot candles and PPFD. It’s decently accurate. I’d recommend researching some of the terms I noted above if you’d like to learn and better understand the science behind light requirements for plants. Good luck 👍🏽

Excellent advice! Some higher end grow lights will tell you how far away the light should be placed to give specific plants their required level of light. I trust my Soltech lights way more than my Amazon light. They’re also significantly more expensive 😬😵‍💫

Depends on the strength of the grow light. I have some that are barely bright indirect (you get what you pay for lol) and others that can mimic as close as possible full sun. My full sun plants can’t tell the difference anyway lol but nothing is as powerful as actual full sun in natural light. If your looking for full sun on a budget I find this bulb does the trick.
