Do yall think she’s ready for a bigger pot? I watered about a week ago and the soil is still kinda moist but not too moist. I know they prefer to dry out but it’s on the schedule for watering tomorrow. What y’all think?

Totally up to you. I wouldn’t say it NEEDS to be done. If it does go in a larger pot it won’t dry at as fast and will need less frequent watering. Your chances of root rot increase. But with that in mind you can always repot if that’s your preference.

Im not rushing to repot, I just want to ensure that I didn’t get root rot and that it was sitting in an adequate amount of soil.

Sometimes just adding fresh soil to the bottom will help if you want further root growth.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll add fresh soil until the roots let me know they’re ready

i wouldn’t upsize, but the plant may be in need of a media change since it’s staying moist for weeks. snake plants (and most succulents) prefer to dry out quickly since they’re used to arid conditions. a gritty soil is best for them in most home conditions. people make all kinds of different mixes, but for all cacti and succulents the soil should ideally be at least 50% inorganic material / grit, like perlite/sponge rock, pumice or other lava rock, calcined clay, granite pieces, etc. these materials ensure an airy soil that dries fairly quickly even in the reduced airflow of most home environments, and some cacti prefer a mix that’s up to 100% grit. houseplants in general benefit from added grit so they don’t sit in wet soil too long, so i highly recommend purchasing a bag or two of “chunks” to all new houseplant owners. i like sol soil’s media. it’s a little pricy but there are discounts available through promotions online. if it were my plant, once the soil is totally dry i would un-pot it. while repotting i would shake loose and collect all the current media onto a tray, avoiding touching the roots so as not to break them. then mix the media with pumice and calcined clay (my preferred amendments) until it’s about half grit and half the original moisture retentive media. place the plant back in the pot, and backfill with the new mix. give it a good soak and hope it’s happy in its new home.

Snake plants prefer to be root bound. They will still push out pups. They are my very favorite. I have 10 different varieties so far. 😊🪴
