Putting this silver bush in a semi-hydroponic setup, as I’m pleased with how my Kos Hu x dessleri seedling is doing in it, also moved it out of the prop box and it’s soil so let’s see how it takes to this.

I’ve been looking at antheriums too much lately lol. My wallet is quaking! 😂 Do you have a recommendation for beginner antheriums? I’d say I have a lot of experience with philodendrons and monsters, but I’m hesitant to assume I can handle more delicate aroids. My local greenhouses have started carrying 4” queen antheriums. They’re gorgeous but they sound too fussy since I don’t have a decked out plant cabinet. But they’re so tempting 😭 Luxurians and vittarifolia have caught my eye too but they don’t seem to show up in-person in my area

Generally, the more velvety they are the more humidity they like. They are pretty prone to fungal infections due to poor air circulation so if you’ve got a humidifier running make sure there’s a fan so the air is circulating. Anthurium chonks are seriously something else, even if they lose all their roots and leaves, as long as they are in some moss they’ll root again. As for recommended anthuriums, I’d suggest luxurians as they don’t need as much humidity, crystals are nice and velvety but are also pretty easy and pretty accessible, as well as forgetii’s also very pretty and accessible, clarinervium are probably the easiest anthurium out there, they don’t mind drying out a bit and don’t mind a lack of humidity. Hope this helps :)

Thanks!! That’s some awesome words of wisdom! I have a collection of soil amendments, including tree fern coincidentally. I also have a humidifier and fan for these dryer months. Looks like I’m ready to grow an antherium! 🤩
