Putting this silver bush in a semi-hydroponic setup, as Iām pleased with how my Kos Hu x dessleri seedling is doing in it, also moved it out of the prop box and itās soil so letās see how it takes to this.

Iāve been looking at antheriums too much lately lol. My wallet is quaking! š Do you have a recommendation for beginner antheriums? Iād say I have a lot of experience with philodendrons and monsters, but Iām hesitant to assume I can handle more delicate aroids. My local greenhouses have started carrying 4ā queen antheriums. Theyāre gorgeous but they sound too fussy since I donāt have a decked out plant cabinet. But theyāre so tempting š Luxurians and vittarifolia have caught my eye too but they donāt seem to show up in-person in my area
0 LikesSome anthuriums can be super finicky, but luckily most are pretty resilient, they like moist roots (but not drowned) and not drying out, as long as you have a nice airy soil mix (Iām talking perlite, pon, pine bark, and coco/tree fern, they really love tree fern). Generally, the more velvety they are the more humidity they like. They are pretty prone to fungal infections due to poor air circulation so if youāve got a humidifier running make sure thereās a fan so the air is circulating. Anthurium chonks are seriously something else, even if they lose all their roots and leaves, as long as they are in some moss theyāll root again. As for recommended anthuriums, Iād suggest luxurians as they donāt need as much humidity, crystals are nice and velvety but are also pretty easy and pretty accessible, as well as forgetiiās also very pretty and accessible, clarinervium are probably the easiest anthurium out there, they donāt mind drying out a bit and donāt mind a lack of humidity. Hope this helps :)

Thanks!! Thatās some awesome words of wisdom! I have a collection of soil amendments, including tree fern coincidentally. I also have a humidifier and fan for these dryer months. Looks like Iām ready to grow an antherium! š¤©
