Please help me with this plant. Since I got her it’s been difficult. She’s barely grown, and it looks like parts of her are dying. I repotted her, I trimmed off her dead branches, I placed her under a grow light, I put her on the patio where she got indirect light, and nothing seems to be working. I can’t figure out why I can’t keep such a basic plant alive. It could be that I live in a very humid environment so maybe that’s not good. It could be that I’m not letting her roots dry out. I just don’t know. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

I’ve never owned one of these plants, but based on what I read about them and what you said you’ve tried, I’d also add to move it to a pot with more circulation such as a terra cotta pot, ensure the soil is well draining (add perlite and orchid bark to it) and mist it since it likes humidity. Fertilizer would probably help too. Someone that owns one may say differently but that’s what I would say based on overall plant knowledge and on reading up on this plant. I’d probably also keep it indoors until it starts thriving. It may be the plastic pot plus the very humid outdoor environment is stressing it out.

I had an ivy once and it only did well when I sat her in a dish of water. Mine only liked being watered from the bottom. Just put her in a type of potting soil Sarah mentioned. I use Miracle Grow Cactus Palm & citrus mix. All my plants are in it. It’s a very dry mix that doesn’t hold a lot of water to create root rot. Maybe pull the healthy plant away from the dead parts and plant it in different soil in a small pot. Water her from the bottom and see if she survives. It’s worth another try!

I’m not sure if this plant could come back. I think you tried but the plant was a little too far gone. If you still want to try maybe cut all of the dried parts off and give way more water. You can use a dish of water underneath to constantly keep it wet. If you still want to try keeping plants again I could give you some of my favorite easy recommendations. You can also tell me any things you struggle with plants and I’ll make sure to give your plants that fit your needs :)

Thanks I’ll give it a try. I have almost 100 plants and for some reason I can’t figure this one out. All my other plants are either doing well or thriving. It seems like it should be an easy plant to grow so I’m baffled. Thanks again!

It’s the same with me for Christmas trees. I try to keep one alive so a tree doesn’t have to be cut down each year but the longest I’ve had one last is 2 years. I’m sure you will figure out a way to save it!!!

These generally go south from not enough water and low humidity. I'd increase both, but definitely the humidity
