Hey guys, just having a small issue with my spider plants.. they seem healthy and are growing new little leaves that get longer each day, but for the past week I’ve noticed the end of some of the leaves going yellow, brown and crispy on both plants, what could be causing this? They seem healthy otherwise, just worried for the ends😢

Hi, I don’t think this is anything to worry about too much. I’ve got 2 spider plants and they’ve both got brown tips but they’re also growing like there’s no tomorrow. I sometimes just trim them off and make the cut at an angle x

If I trim them off do they grow back? Or is that why you do it at an angle to make it look natural? I repotted them not long ago as they were originally in pots without drainage but they were growing fine then, the ends have only started dying since repotting so wondering if that’s the reason behind it x

They don’t, more for aesthetic reasons really. I water mine according to plantas schedule and try not to let they dry out too much and they’re in a west window with end of day sun. Maybe consult planta but I think they’re ok… hard ones to kill 🤣

It’s likely from chemicals in the water. Try using distilled water or let it sit outside in the sun for a few days and then water with it. Good luck 🍀

Inconsistent watering and can cause stress that create brown leaf tips. Repotting can disturb or break roots and cause the same condition. Trimming the leaf tips for aesthetic reasons won’t hurt it. I suggest waiting awhile before more repotting. Spider plants like snug roots. My spider baby stayed in its 3 inch pot for over a year.

It was perfectly fine in its old pot that I got it in (this was a little glass jar with no drainage holes so the water gathered at the bottom so thought it’d be best to repot) but it was thriving then.. it happened since repotting but any new leaves aren’t browning so I’m guessing it was 100% the stress of repotting. Will be waiting a while until I next repot:)

That makes sense. That glass jar was in perfect equilibrium with the baby spider plant! 😃 Some people can determine the perfect amount of water to add to a pot with no drainage that the plant needs with no excess water. Not me. 😂

Yeah that’s why I repotted as I noticed water gathering at the bottom, not the best at determining it myself😂
