Hi! New to plants here in NYC and I have a Spider plant, golden pathos and a snake plant. I usually have my window AC on high, do I need to be concerned? I feel the spider plant has started to turn downwards since getting it yesterday. Should I be concerned?

Newer plants tend to look sad for the first few weeks. They're just adjusting to the new environment. if you're worried about the airflow, most plants actually very much enjoy a good breeze, and it helps them build stronger leaf stems. humidity wise, you can mist them regularly. spider plants and pothos tend to be very hardy, so you've got good picks.

Thank you!!! Appreciate the fast response. I used to own plants in 2020 but easily killed them so usually this app I’m hoping to be a good plant dad

I’ve read that misting isn’t actually helpful or good for plants. You could consider buying a grow light if they need more light or a small humidifier if they need more humidity. Both are relatively inexpensive. Your place looks awesome!

Thanks! And also the terracotta pots seems to be cold and wet. I haven’t watered them since I bought yesterday, is that normal?

Terracotta is a very porous material (be careful putting it directly onto your shelf, it may ruin it). It is going to cause your plants to dry out faster but also prevent overwatering that way. The coldness is likely from your AC.

For the AC. I have some of my plants in an almost direct line. My thicker-leaved plants do the best, but also my pothos are very resilient with it. I currently have my pothos, ZZ plant, and snake plant under it
