Hi everyone! I’ve had this purple inch plant for about a year now, and it’s gotten really long to the point where I was trying to untangle its branches and ended up snapping some branches. Do you guys think I should leave it alone, let it grow like it has been? Or should I trim it down?

It’s up to you wether or not you want to prune it. If you want it to grow bushier, then you could trim it all the way up to the edge of the pot. You don’t have to trim it all the way back if you don’t want though. But if you want it to stay long just keep it how it is. You can then propagate the clippings.

I think I’ll let it keep growing in that case, I kind of like how long it’s gotten, just wanna figure out a way to get it to grow up my window, maybe something to hold the long branches up?

I like that it’s super long too, I’ve never seen one like that before. Clearly, it’s a happy plant. There’s probably specialized hooks for plants, but off the top of my head I was thinking of command strips.

It’s super easy to propagate so if you even just trimmed one branch you could make a bushier plant. Just trim section with two nodes, take off the bottom leaf and put in dirt and it will grow a new branch.

Like someone told you above you can propagate those broken parts and make a whole new plant. That’s what I did! However I don’t agree with letting it get any longer than you have it! Because what will happen is that the leaves will start to look crappy, not to their fullest potential, plants like to be pruned. It’s like getting a haircut for us, and how it makes us feel fresh and new. For them they love it because it helps stimulate new growth and to not put off energy to soooo many leaves if that makes sense. Since I’ve pruned mine it looks much better. But in all honesty the stems I propagated put the mother plant to shame in terms of how pretty the leaves are, color and sparkle wise… and health wise too. The mother plants leaves just look beat up and not too pretty, I need to do something with it tomorrow honestly

cutting the vines is better for the plant’s health in the long run if its vines are hanging like that. it puts a lot of stress on the vine near the roots
