Is my bamboo plant getting scorched? The app says too much watering but I’m wondering if it’s getting too much direct sun. Backstory: we moved from a desert area to a mountain area in November and the only plant that hasn’t taken the move well is Bambi. All of my plants are on a window sill in the basement so most of the day it gets indirect light but for a few hours it does get direct light. Ever since the move all the new growth has come in discolored and the tips have started to go crispy. Any advice? I’d really hate to loose this plant, it was a grievance gift after my dad passed.

From what I read lucky bamboo doesn’t handle more than 500 footcandles. Direct sun on my east facing window I think is 4500 footcandles - don’t know however if it doesn’t tolerate direct sun at all or only prolonged exposure. Look for white discolouration on the stems because it would be bleached from the sunlight and would be a confirmation you seek.

I find too much direct light is often not an issue for indoor plants unless that sucker is cooking in the sun with no break all day. But I’ve not had a bamboo plant before so maybe they’re uber sensitive. When the leaves first start browning on the plant are they mushy/soft or crispy? Are the stalks firm? Has a certain app been pushing you to fertilize more than necessary (looking at you Planta)? At the very top of the tallest stalk, is that brown portion mushy? Dry? Browning tips makes me think it has to do with your new water, I think they are sensitive to chlorine/flouride so you could try a water conditioner additive or rainwater since it’s the season for it.
